fun with fabric flowers.

Hello!

Well, this isn’t exactly the twice weekly update I set out to do … but hey, I’m happy if I can get two blog posts posted in the same month!  Baby steps, baby steps … right?

I have so much I want to share and talk about … so I am going to spread it out over a few posts rather than cram it all into one.

Since I am working at getting my crochet company up and running, I’m always looking for ways to cut some financial corners (you know, so I can buy more fabric and floss and yarn!).  I decided that instead of buying my mom a little Easter present this year, I’d make her something.  And, after combing through Pinterest (goodness gracious, Pinterest!), I decided to make her a wreath.  I’d buy a grapevine wreath from Michael’s (because, let’s face it, I’m not THAT creative!) and use fabric I have at home to decorate it.  I had it in my head that I wanted to make some sort of fabric flowers … and stared checking out different styles and tutorials online.  I settled on this tutorial from the blog SEWRITZYTITZY.com.

I made two different sizes and covered buttons with coordinating fabric for the centers.  I used a glue gun to glue a felt circle on the back … and then glued them onto the wreath.

Instead of doubling up on the petals as the tutorial suggests, I just did single petals around … and, gosh, they were SO MUCH FUN to make!!  Of course, once I was finished with them, my brain started spinning the possibilities … but, calm down dear, there are only so many hours in a day!!

I was pretty pleased with the outcome … and my mom was too.

Success!

If you have a favorite fabric flower tutorial, leave it in the comments!  I’d love to try other styles!
